Route Info
Description
The trailhead is located roughly 30 miles north of Pagosa Springs and across from the Palisades equestrian campground. Williams Creek Trail (587) begins at 8,374ft and immediately starts climbing and continues to climb for the first 2 miles. Expect some loose rocks during this climb as this is a heavily used trail by equestrians. The first few miles of the trail have previously been described with the Spanish name Huerto (garden like). The trail begins to level off pass the Indian Creek Trail junction and then becomes a trail of small ups and downs.
The trail crosses Williams Creek around the 3 mile mark and then again around 4 miles which is the turnaround point for the route.

The crossing of Williams Creek around 3 miles is a nice place to try your luck. Past Flyathletes have had luck here catching Cutthroat Trout.
