Report

In an epic story of redemption, Kate Todd returned to claim this FKF on Humboldt Peak exactly one year after coming up just about a quarter mile short of the summit in 2022. Undeterred by the pressure or the shear magnitude of the task, Kate recruited her loyal 15-lb. best friend terrier type, Bee Girl, to join her on her summit attempt. With clouds looming, Kate crushed the road ascent, blew past Lower South Colony Lake, and quickly climbed to the upper Lake. Refueled with a quick snack break, Kate and Bee Girl next endured a brutal sufferfest through the steep Humboldt switchbacks and merciless scree field. Following a sustained moment of silence at her 2022 failure spot, Kate made a heroic final push to the summit of Humboldt Peak. At the top, f-bombs of positivity were dropped, pictures were taken, and terriers were hugged. Despite six tired legs, the teen / terrier duo quickly descended from the peak, past the two lakes, and back to South Colony Creek where Kate quickly caught a hungry beast of a cutthroat trout on a drowned ant pattern. Again, f-bombs of positivity were dropped, pictures were taken, and terriers were hugged. Despite the desperate pleas of her witness father to fish more, the rod was packed up and the descent completed. Kate's day was cemented back at the cabin with some cheesy pasta and a swallow of holler-made Ohio blackberry moonshine. Epic!
