Route Info
Description
In the Piedra canyon the Piedra River trail winds along the river. Piedra means stone or rock. As you run the trail you can certainly understand why it carries this name. The sandstone canyon is incredibly beautiful. Right before the 3 mile mark you reach the northern part of the Stock Drive Trail. The turnaround is shortly after this.
This trail is deceiving. It appears as though it would be an easy run, however, there is a good bit of ascent (800 ft) and the rocks make it quite technical except for in the meadows where the heat will bake you like a lobster.
