I met up with a friend for a before-work run along Clear Creek. We ran the same route last week to scope out some good holes and were surprised how little water there is to fish along the way, not due to a lack of good runs but because much of the river is fenced off from the path with big metal bars. The fishing was slower than expected, possibly because we went early enough that the sun had not yet hit this part of the canyon and things were still a bit chilly. I finally got a small rainbow to rise to my fly and got it in quickly. By the time we got back, it was hot and I was thankful for the cold beer I had waiting at the car!
